> The flow rate converter converts flow rate between litres per second, cubic metres per hour, cubic metres per second, US gallons per minute, US gallons per hour, imperial gallons per minute and more. Choose any “from” and “to” unit, type a number into any field and every other unit updates instantly; all conversion factors are exact definitions.

## Inputs

- From (L/min, L/s, m³/h, m³/s, GPM, GPH, UK GPM, CFM)

## Results

- To
- Cubic metres per hour
- Cubic metres per second
- US gallons per minute
- US gallons per hour
- Imperial gallons per minute
- Cubic feet per minute

## Formula

```
1 L/min = 0.016666667 L/s
1 L/min = 0.06 m³/h
1 L/min = 1.666667 × 10^-5 m³/s
1 L/min = 0.26417205 GPM
1 L/min = 15.850323 GPH
```

## Explanation

Pumps, showers, taps and fans are rated in different flow units depending on country and industry: litres per minute in Europe, U.S. gallons per minute in North America and cubic feet per minute for air.

### How to use the Flow Rate Converter

- Pick the unit you are starting from in the **From** menu and type your value.
- Pick the unit you want in the **To** menu. The heading changes to match – for example “Liters per Minute to Liters per Second Converter”.
- The most common flow rate units are shown below at the same time, so you can compare them at a glance.
- Type into any result to convert backwards, then use **Copy results** – the copied text starts with the heading for your chosen units.

Results update as you type. Everything is calculated in your browser.

### How it works

Every flow rate unit is defined by an exact factor relative to the cubic metre per second (the base unit). The calculator first turns the value you type into cubic metres per second, then turns that into the unit you picked in the “To” menu and into each of the common units below it. This two-step method means any unit can be converted to any other – 8 units are available in each menu – and you can type into any field, including a result, to work in the other direction. Changing a unit menu keeps the quantity the same and just re-expresses it, and the page heading and copied results follow your choice.

### How to convert flow rate units

- Choose the unit you have in the **From** menu and type the value, for example **10 L/min**.
- Choose the unit you want in the **To** menu, for example litres per second. The page heading changes to “Liters per Minute to Liters per Second Converter”.
- The calculator multiplies by the cubic metre per second factor of the “from” unit and divides by the factor of the “to” unit: 10 L/min × 1.666667 × 10-5 ÷ 0.001 = **0.16666667 L/s**.

## Worked example

Inputs — From: 10 L/min.

Results — **To = 0.16666667 L/s**; Cubic metres per hour = 0.6 m³/h; Cubic metres per second = 0.00016667 m³/s; US gallons per minute = 2.64172052 GPM; US gallons per hour = 158.50323141 GPH; Imperial gallons per minute = 2.19969248 UK GPM; Cubic feet per minute = 0.35314667 CFM.

## FAQ

**How many L/min is 1 GPM?**
About 3.785 L/min.

**What is CFM used for?**
Air flow in fans, compressors and HVAC ducts.

**How many GPM is a typical shower?**
About 1.8–2.5 GPM (7–9.5 L/min) for modern heads.

**How do I change the units?**
Pick any unit in the From and To menus. The value is converted in place, and the heading changes to show your conversion, for example “Liters per Minute to Liters per Second Converter”.

**Can I type into any field?**
Yes. Every field is editable, so you can start from whichever unit you have.

**How many units can I convert between?**
8 flow rate units, from the everyday to the specialised.

**Which units are exact?**
All factors here are exact by definition except astronomical and similar reference values, which use internationally agreed constants.

**What formula does the Flow Rate Converter use?**
1 L/min = 0.016666667 L/s.
