> The military time converter turns 12-hour times (2:30 p.m.) into 24-hour military time (1430) and back, and spells out how the time is spoken (“fourteen thirty hours”). Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing you type is sent to our server.

## Inputs

- Convert
- Time

## Results

- Result
- Military time
- Standard time
- How it is spoken

## Formula

```
Military time = hours (00–23) and minutes written as four digits; p.m. hours add 12 (except 12 p.m.)
```

## Explanation

Armed forces, hospitals, aviation and emergency services use the 24-hour clock to avoid confusing a.m. and p.m. Midnight is 0000 and noon is 1200; there is no colon, and times are spoken as “zero seven hundred” or “nineteen forty-five hours”.

### How to use the Military Time Converter

- **Convert**
- **Time**

Everything runs in your browser, so results appear instantly and nothing you type is sent to a server.

### How it works

For 12-hour input, 12 a.m. becomes 00 and p.m. hours have 12 added. For military input, hours above 12 have 12 subtracted and a.m./p.m. is added.
