> Convert ones (ones) to million (million): 1 one = 1 × 10^-6 million, so multiply by 1 × 10^-6 or divide by 1,000,000. Both fields are editable, so you can also type in million and get ones back.

## Inputs

- Ones (ones)

## Results

- Million

## Formula

```
1 ones = 1 × 10^-6 million
1 million = 1,000,000 ones
million = ones × 1 × 10^-6
```

## Explanation

Convert any large number into millions, and also lakh and crore. Useful for population figures, revenue and salaries.

### How to use the Number to Million Converter

- Type the number of ones into the **Ones** field. Decimals such as 1,250,000 are fine.
- Read the answer in **Million** – it updates as you type, with no button to press.
- To convert the other way, type into **Million** and the ones are recalculated.
- Press **Copy results** to copy both values with the page title, or **Copy link** to share this exact conversion.

This page converts only ones ⇄ million. Need a different unit? Use the general number converter, where you can choose any “from” and “to” unit.

### How it works

Both units measure number, so they are always in the same ratio: one one equals 1 × 10^-6 million. The calculator multiplies the number of ones you type by 1 × 10^-6 to give million, and when you type into the million field it divides by the same factor to give ones. Because the ratio never changes, doubling the ones always doubles the million. Results are calculated at full precision and rounded only for display (up to eight decimal places, with very large or small values shown in scientific notation).

### How to convert ones to million

- Write down the value in ones, for example **2,500,000 ones**.
- Multiply by the conversion factor 1 × 10-6 (because 1 one = 1 × 10-6 million).
- 2,500,000 × 1 × 10-6 = **2.5 million**.
- To go back from million to ones, divide by 1 × 10-6 – or multiply by 1,000,000.

### What is an one?

A plain number written in units, like 2,500,000.

### What is a million?

A million is 10⁶ (1,000,000), equal to ten lakh.

### Common mistakes to avoid

Misreading south asian digit grouping (1,00,00,000) as international grouping, and the old british “long scale” billion (10¹²), no longer in use.

## Worked example

Inputs — Ones: 2,500,000 ones.

Results — **Million = 2.5 million**.
