> The pennies to dollars calculator counts the value of a pile of pennies in dollars and cents, and shows how many standard bank rolls and how much the coins weigh, using U.S. Mint specifications.

## Inputs

- Number of pennies

## Results

- Value
- In cents
- Full bank rolls
- Coins left over
- Weight of the coins

## Formula

```
dollars = number of pennies × 0.01
weight = number × 2.5 g
```

## Explanation

Each penny is worth 1 cents. Banks wrap pennies in rolls of 50 coins ($0.50 per roll). A penny weighs 2.5 g (copper-plated zinc pennies minted since 1982), so you can also estimate a jar of coins by weight.

### How to use the Pennies to Dollars Calculator

- **Number of pennies**
- Every result field is editable: type into **Value** and **Number of pennies** plus every other field update to match.

Results update as you type, and every field accepts the units shown in its menu.

### How it works

The count is multiplied by the coin’s face value. Rolls and weight use the official U.S. Mint coin weights. Type a dollar amount into the result to get the number of coins instead.

### What each result means

- **Value** = [Number of pennies] × 0.01
- **In cents** = [Number of pennies] × 1
- **Full bank rolls** = floor([Number of pennies] ÷ 50)
- **Coins left over** = [Number of pennies] - 50 × floor([Number of pennies] ÷ 50)
- **Weight of the coins** = [Number of pennies] × 2.5 ÷ 1000

## Worked example

Inputs — Number of pennies: 100.

Results — **Value = $1.00**; In cents = 100 ¢; Full bank rolls = 2; Coins left over = 0; Weight of the coins = 250 g.
