> The day counter counts the days between two dates, and how many of them are a particular weekday – how many Mondays, Fridays or Sundays – as well as weekdays and weekend days.

## Inputs

- Start date
- End date (included)
- Weekday to count

## Results

- Days in range
- Number of the chosen weekday
- Weekdays (Mon–Fri)
- Weekend days
- Saturdays
- Sundays

## Formula

```
Count of a weekday = the number of days in the range that fall on it
First match = start + (weekday − start weekday) mod 7; count = floor((end − first match) ÷ 7) + 1
```

## Explanation

Counting specific weekdays is useful for schedules (how many Tuesday classes in a term), payroll (how many Fridays this year) and planning (how many Saturdays before a wedding).

### How to use the Day Counter – Count Weekdays Between Dates

- **Start date**
- **End date (included)**
- **Weekday to count**

Results update as you type, and every field accepts the units shown in its menu.

### How it works

Enter the start and end dates (both counted), and choose the weekday to count.

### Tips

- Check whether the end date should be included – event durations usually include it, elapsed time does not.
- Months have 28–31 days, so "one month" is counted by calendar date, not as 30 days.
- Use 24-hour time or set AM/PM carefully when entering clock times.
- Time zones and daylight-saving changes are not applied unless the calculator says so.

### Common mistakes to avoid

- Counting a 30-day month when a calendar month is meant (or the reverse).
- Forgetting leap years when counting days across February.
- Mixing decimal hours (7.5 h) with clock time (7:30).

### Inputs explained

FieldWhat to enterStart dateA dateEnd date (included)A dateWeekday to countChoose one: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday …

### What each result means

- **Days in range** = [End date (included)] - [Start date] + 1
- **Number of the chosen weekday** = (max(floor((([End date (included)]) - (([Start date]) + mod(([Weekday to count]) - weekday([Start date]), 7)))÷7) + 1, 0))
- **Weekdays (Mon–Fri)** = workdays([Start date], [End date (included)] + 1)
- **Weekend days** = [Days in range] - [Weekdays (Mon–Fri)]
- **Saturdays** = (max(floor((([End date (included)]) - (([Start date]) + mod((6) - weekday([Start date]), 7)))÷7) + 1, 0))
- **Sundays** = (max(floor((([End date (included)]) - (([Start date]) + mod((0) - weekday([Start date]), 7)))÷7) + 1, 0))

## Worked example

Inputs — Start date: 2026-10-25; End date (included): 2027-04-23; Weekday to count: Friday.

Results — Days in range = 181; **Number of the chosen weekday = 26**; Weekdays (Mon–Fri) = 130; Weekend days = 51; Saturdays = 25; Sundays = 26.
