> The corrected reticulocyte count calculator adjusts the reticulocyte percentage for the degree of anaemia, using the patient's haematocrit compared with a normal haematocrit.

## Inputs

- Sex
- Reticulocytes (%)
- Haematocrit (%)

## Results

- Corrected reticulocyte count

## Formula

```
Corrected reticulocyte count (%) = reticulocytes % × patient Hct ÷ normal Hct (45% men, 40% women)
```

## Explanation

A reticulocyte percentage can look normal in anaemia simply because there are fewer mature red cells. Correcting it shows the true production rate. A corrected count above about 2% in anaemia suggests an adequate marrow response.

### How to use the Corrected Reticulocyte Count Calculator

- **Sex**
- **Reticulocytes**
- **Haematocrit**

Results update as you type, and every field accepts the units shown in its menu.

### How it works

Enter reticulocytes, the patient's haematocrit and sex.

### Example values

How the main result changes when **Reticulocytes** changes and everything else stays at the example values above:

## Worked example

Inputs — Sex: Male; Reticulocytes: 3 %; Haematocrit: 30 %.

Results — **Corrected reticulocyte count = 2 %**.

## Key terms

- **Reticulocyte**: Immature red blood cell.

## FAQ

**What is a normal corrected reticulocyte count?**
About 0.5–2.5% without anaemia; in anaemia, more than 2% indicates a good response.

**What is the difference from the RPI?**
The RPI further divides by a maturation factor.

**Why use a different normal haematocrit for women?**
Normal haematocrit is lower in women.
