> The draw length calculator estimates your archery draw length from your wingspan using the standard wingspan ÷ 2.5 rule, and suggests a matching arrow length.

## Inputs

- Wingspan (arm span) (cm, in, m, ft, mm)

## Results

- Draw length
- Suggested minimum arrow length

## Formula

```
Draw length (in) = wingspan (in) ÷ 2.5
Arrow length ≈ draw length + 1 to 2 in
```

## Explanation

Draw length is how far you pull the bowstring back at full draw. A bow set to the right draw length is more accurate and comfortable, and reduces the risk of shoulder strain.

### How to use the Draw Length Calculator

- **Wingspan (arm span)**

Results update as you type, and every field accepts the units shown in its menu.

### How it works

Stand with your back to a wall, arms outstretched and palms forward, and measure from the tip of one middle finger to the other. Divide by 2.5 to get the draw length; arrows are usually cut 1–2 inches longer for safety.

### What each result means

- **Draw length** = [Wingspan (arm span)]÷2.5
- **Suggested minimum arrow length** = [Draw length] + 2.54

### Example values

How the main result changes when **Wingspan** changes and everything else stays at the example values above:

## Worked example

Inputs — Wingspan (arm span): 178 cm.

Results — **Draw length = 71.2 cm**; Suggested minimum arrow length = 73.7 cm.

## Key terms

- **Draw length**: Distance from the nocking point to the grip plus 1.75 in at full draw (AMO standard).

## FAQ

**Why divide by 2.5?**
It is a long-standing rule of thumb that matches measured draw lengths for most archers within about an inch.

**Is draw length the same for compound and recurve bows?**
The body measurement is the same, but compound bows are set to a fixed draw length.

**What if I am between sizes?**
Choose the shorter length; overdrawing hurts accuracy.
