> The healthy weight calculator shows the range of weights that give a healthy BMI of 18.5–25 at your height, plus the weight for each BMI category boundary and the healthy range under the Asian cut-offs.

## Inputs

- Height (cm, in, m, ft, mm)

## Results

- Healthy weight from
- Healthy weight to
- Weight at BMI 30 (obesity)
- Asian cut-offs – healthy to (BMI 23)

## Formula

```
Healthy weight = 18.5 × height (m)² to 25 × height (m)²
```

## Explanation

Health risk is lowest for most adults when BMI is between 18.5 and 25. Turning that into a weight range for your height gives a practical target that allows for differences in frame size and muscle.

### How to use the Healthy Weight Calculator

- **Height**

Results update as you type, and every field accepts the units shown in its menu.

### How it works

Enter your height. The calculator multiplies the BMI limits by your height in metres squared.

### BMI categories

BMI (kg/m²)Category (WHO)BMI PrimeBelow 18.5Underweightbelow 0.7418.5–24.9Healthy weight0.74–0.9925–29.9Overweight1.00–1.1930–34.9Obesity class I1.20–1.3935–39.9Obesity class II1.40–1.5940 and aboveObesity class III1.60 and above

### What each result means

- **Healthy weight from** = 18.5×([Height]÷100)^2
- **Healthy weight to** = 25×([Height]÷100)^2
- **Weight at BMI 30 (obesity)** = 30×([Height]÷100)^2
- **Asian cut-offs – healthy to (BMI 23)** = 23×([Height]÷100)^2

## Worked example

Inputs — Height: 175 cm.

Results — **Healthy weight from = 56.7 kg**; Healthy weight to = 76.6 kg; Weight at BMI 30 (obesity) = 91.9 kg; Asian cut-offs – healthy to (BMI 23) = 70.4 kg.

## Key terms

- **Healthy weight range**: The weights that give BMI 18.5–25 at a given height.

## FAQ

**Is the healthy range the same for everyone?**
It is the same for adult men and women; many Asian countries use 23 as the upper limit.

**Can I be healthy outside this range?**
Some muscular people are; waist size and blood tests add context.

**Does this apply to children?**
No – children use BMI-for-age percentiles.
