> The bike pace calculator turns a cycling distance and time into average speed and pace per kilometre and mile – for common distances from 10 km to 300 km, including the 180 km Ironman bike leg.

## Inputs

- Distance
- Custom distance (km, mi, m, yd)
- Riding time – hours
- minutes
- seconds

## Results

- Average speed
- Pace per km
- Pace per mile

## Formula

```
Speed = distance ÷ time · Pace = time ÷ distance
```

## Explanation

Cyclists usually think in speed, but pace (minutes per km or mile) makes it easy to plan a long ride or the bike leg of a triathlon.

### How to use the Bike Pace Calculator

- **Distance**
- **Custom distance**
- **Riding time – hours**
- **minutes**
- **seconds**

Results update as you type, every field has its own unit menu, and everything is calculated in your browser.

### How it works

Choose the distance (or enter your own) and the riding time.

### Inputs explained

FieldWhat to enterDistanceChoose one: 10 km, 20 km, 40 km (Olympic triathlon), 50 km …Custom distanceUnits: km, mi, m, ydRiding time – hoursA numberminutesA numbersecondsA number

### What each result means

- **Average speed** = [d]÷([Riding time – hours]×3600 + [minutes]×60 + [seconds])
- **Pace per km** = ([Riding time – hours]×3600 + [minutes]×60 + [seconds])÷60÷([d]÷1000)
- **Pace per mile** = ([Riding time – hours]×3600 + [minutes]×60 + [seconds])÷60÷([d]÷1609.344)

### Example values

How the main result changes when **Custom distance** changes and everything else stays at the example values above:

## Worked example

Inputs — Distance: 100 km; Riding time – hours: 3; minutes: 30; seconds: 0.

Results — **Average speed = 28.57 km/h**; Pace per km = 2:06; Pace per mile = 3:23.

## Key terms

- **Pace**: Time per unit of distance.

## FAQ

**What is a good average cycling speed?**
20–25 km/h for recreational riders; 30+ km/h for strong club riders.

**How long does 100 km take?**
Around 4 hours at 25 km/h, plus stops.
